Make Kansas a healthier state
Denise Schiattarella, Manhattan Catholic School

I think Kansas is a great state. There are some good and bad things about it though. Most of it depends on where you live, like a big city, small town or farm.

Out of the three topics to write about, I picked health insurance. I believe that everyone needs health insurance. I believe that everyone needs to have equal health insurance or be able to afford it. The reason why I think that is because everyone should be able to be healthy.

Just because you can't afford it, doesn't mean you need to suffer. This is a hard situation because what about the newborns and sick people. I just don't think it is fair. Some jobs give health insurance opportunities, but then again, what about the people who don't have jobs. This is a problem that needs to be fixed, but how?

There are many ways this can be fixed. I think, as a community, we need to fight for our state. We can talk to our Congressmen and women. Maybe even take it to the President. It is very important that we all help each other out. Every man, woman and child NEEDS to have equal health care. Maybe if we get more companies to offer health care for families that work there, some things could improve. Then, we can help people get those jobs.

There are many things we can do to help and to make a difference. We need to work together to make Kansas a healthier state. We can make a difference!
