Becoming a Good Citizen
by Corey Shackelford, Chase Middle School
In order for kids to grow up and get good jobs to support their family they need a good education. A good education requires encouragement for students, structure, good teachers, and supplies for assignments. The school should be an environment for learning.
Kids must learn speaking skills to speak their opinion. We need text books to read, but schools also need technology. Some kids need classes like music, art, PE, FACS, or computer lab. Other activities that students enjoy are hands on projects like building things for classes. When students work on these projects they learn skills such as teamwork, organizations, compromise, speaking and thinking skills. Some students think that hands on assignments are a better way to learn than with pencil and paper. If a project doesn’t work like you thought it would then you would spend more time thinking about another solution.
Good schools need financial support. Some parents think that paying taxes are too expensive, but their parents paid those taxes for the school. The schools would not have the technology they have if there were no taxes. Students need good schools to be able to grow up and get a degree in college. College helps someone get a good job so that when we grow up we can support ourselves and our families. Some kids do not get the opportunity to get a good job and have a family because they did not get the proper education. Having a good education prepares you to be a leader and good citizen of the community.
