Education Affects Our Lives
by Hanna Hayden, Manhattan Catholic School
Kansas is filled with lots of people who have interesting talents and ideas. We can use those to improve overall health coverage, financial situations and our schools. If we look inside ourselves, we can realize that each of us can contribute something to help our future no matter how big or small.
One way that I can help improve Kansas' future is to improve the schools here. Many schools have outdated textbooks like mine. There are charities where you can send old or outdated school supplies to poor countries, and that would be a general way to dispose of old textbooks without being wasteful.
Here in Manhattan, we recently passed a bill to improve schools. Do far it has really done a lot to help us and our school's future. We need more of those bills because education affects our lives, sometimes very directly and other times so indirectly that you might not notice it at all.
I can help improve the future of Kansans' education by helping make and vote on bills to help fix up our schools.
