A Better Place for All
by Airika Long, Clifton-Clyde Middle School
Our future depends on me, so I am going to do what is best for not only my family, but for everybody in Kansas. Financial security is starting to become a big problem in Kansas. Some families can’t pay their bills, some can’t get to work, some can’t afford groceries, and others are losing their jobs. Without jobs how are they going to pay their bills, get to work, and buy groceries for their family?
If a person loses their job, they aren’t making any money to use to pay bills or buy groceries, and if they can’t pay bills then pretty soon they won’t have electricity, heat, a car, and eventually a house. If they don’t have enough money to pay their bills in the first place, then they will lose their car, and won’t be able to go to work.
If families aren’t making enough money and someone in their family gets sick then they would have to pay for all the medical bills themselves. Some families don’t have enough money to pay for all the medical bills so the family member might get worse, or might even die.
So even though some families can afford all of their bills, groceries, and all the other little things, some of them can’t. That is why, as an individual, I am going to try my hardest to work to make life better or my family and all the other families in Kansas. Hopefully in the future Kansas will be a better place for all the people, rich or poor.
