Erin Melton
Food Security Policy Advisor
Erin joined the Kansas Action for Children team in August 2021 to dig into food security policy and its impact on Kansas kids. Prior to her time at KAC, Erin's work was largely in the nonprofit fundraising and marketing field. She has experience in organizations with a variety of missions, including housing for under-resourced youth, refugee resettlement and workforce development, digital access and literacy expansion, and expanding access to homeownership. Her interest in policy and advocacy was born from her research into city planning and housing in Kansas City, MO.
A new Kansan, Erin was born and raised in Oklahoma and Texas and moved to Missouri to pursue a bachelor's degree in English Literature at William Jewell College. She holds a master's of science in international social and public policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Erin lives in Lawrence with her cat and enjoys reading, jogging, cooking, and reality TV in her spare time.
