Former library director, community leader joins Kansas Action for Children as director of government relations
TOPEKA, Kansas – Adrienne Olejnik, a former library executive and advocate for strong Kansas communities, joins the nonprofit full-time on Sept. 10 as director of government relations.
Olejnik comes to KAC after eight years as the director of the Rossville Community Library, overseeing staff and budgets, as well as continuously collaborating with community members. She worked to expand programming and services in the face of Brownback-era budget cuts, which motivated her 2016 run for a Kansas House seat.
She also served as a Rossville City Council member, president of the Rossville Community Foundation Board, board secretary of the Topeka South Rotary and as a KAC board member. Olejnik has volunteered as an income tax preparer with the IRS VITA program for five years, helping families strengthen economic security. After years working in and serving the Rossville community, she was inspired to expand her advocacy for Kansas children and families and join the KAC team.
“KAC’s work has had a direct impact on my enthusiasm for what we can achieve in Kansas, and I’m excited to join the team and be a part of its efforts to improve the lives of kids and families in our state,” Olejnik said.
A Washburn University graduate, she has also served as a council member for Shawnee County Extension and is the former chair of the Planning Committee for Leadership Greater Topeka. She lives in Rossville with her husband and two daughters.
