Emily Barnes

Emily joined KAC in 2023 as the Education Policy Advisor and now serves as the Policy & Partnerships Coordinator. She is passionate about ensuring kids in Kansas have the best opportunities to grow and learn. Her background in special education and child care helps her understand the hurdles families face to access quality care for their children. Having served on the Kansas Early Childhood Recommendations Panel and engaged in other collaborative work, Emily works to build positive connections for those dedicated to improving life for Kansas kids. 

Emily received a bachelor’s degree in human development and learning, with an emphasis in special education, from Lynchburg College. She lives in Olathe with her husband, children, and dogs. Emily enjoys crocheting and cooking, as well as spending time with her family, especially when camping.
