Megan Leopold
Senior Policy Advisor
Megan Leopold joined KAC as a Senior Policy Advisor in 2025. She focuses on the state budget process and appropriations as they relate to the policy priorities of KAC and their partners. As a social worker, Megan has always had an interest in early childhood. She began her career as a clinical social worker providing direct services for children and families through community mental health centers and home visiting. After several years, she returned to school to pursue her desire to influence the laws and policies that impact kids and families. Prior to joining the team at KAC, Megan worked as a fiscal analyst for Kansas Legislative Research. She is thrilled to have found a role that is such a perfect combination of her interests.
Megan grew up in Kansas and has a doctorate in social welfare from the University of Kansas. She lived in several places, including Boston and Washington, D.C., before returning to her roots in Kansas. She lives in Lawrence with her husband, two kids, two cats, and dog and enjoys traveling, reading, taking her dog to the dog park, coffee, and spending time with friends and family.
