RELEASE: Statement on the Kansas House Tax Committee passage of SB 50

Kansas Action for Children is deeply concerned by the vote yesterday in the House Taxation Committee. It's critical to know the full, true cost of these tax proposals before further action. There is no still estimate for the Paycheck Protection Program provision, which could be incredibly expensive. And guidance in the American Rescue Plan Act makes it clear that federal aid cannot be used to offset tax changes that reduce revenue. The Legislature needs to slow down and wait for guidance from the Treasury Department. Moving forward is irresponsible.
